What is the shelf life of MAMMOTH® P?
Why are some bottles of MAMMOTH® P darker in color?
MAMMOTH P may darken over time, and different colorization is completely normal. This is due to naturally-occurring redox reactions in the alfalfa extract that we use in our formula. Redox reactions are completely natural occurrences in all living materials. In general, redox reactions occur when oxygen mixes in with the formula, which causes a darker color. We have rigorously tested color variation and effectiveness of the microbes in MAMMOTH P and we’ve found that the product is equally as effective, no matter what the color.
Why are there chunks floating in my bottle of MAMMOTH® P?
It is completely normal to see sediment floating in your bottle of MAMMOTH P, being that it is an active microbial product. The sediment does not influence the effectiveness of the product and will not cause harm to your plants in any way. We simply recommend shaking your bottle of MAMMOTH P well before using. How long will it take to notice the effectiveness of MAMMOTH® P?
You should see the difference in cannabis yield at the end of the growing season. Many growers have reported their plants respond in days or weeks with more vigorous growth, larger and denser buds, and overall healthier looking plants. The Colorado growers using MAMMOTH P are reporting overwhelmingly positive results. We’d also love to hear your feedback!
Is MAMMOTH® P going to compete with anything I'm using?
MAMMOTH P is compatible with all cannabis nutrient lines and other microbial additives. We recommend using MAMMOTH P as an additive into your existing feeding regime without changing anything else.
What benefits will I see during the vegetative stage with MAMMOTH® P?
MAMMOTH P has shown to substantially boost above ground biomass production during veg growth cycles. There are a couple of reasons – 1) having a healthy rhizosphere microbiome simply supports healthy growth. Although the mechanisms beyond nutrient delivery (such a chem-signaling and pathogen resistance) which often occur between plants and beneficial bacteria are sometimes difficult to directly quantify – and more apparent by measuring healthy plant metrics. In general, having MAMMOTH P established early on simply improves the plant’s ability to grow healthy throughout its entire life cycle; 2) although the microbial formulation does specifically focus on increased phosphorus cycling; these microbes also naturally produce N cycling enzymes (all microbes do this to some level); 3) the microbes in MAMMOTH P also solubilize micro nutrients which support health and vigorous plant development through all growth stages, 4) plants still need P across all growth stages. Phosphorus is the second most important nutrient, and this formulation does a great job of making P available for root development in early growth stages and for translocating to flower during later growth stages.
Have you tested MAMMOTH® P as a compost tea inoculant?
MAMMOTH P is already a very concentrated microbial formulation – and will grow more concentrated than needed if inoculated at the beginning of a compost tea. When using compost teas, we recommend adding MAMMOTH P to the final (end) brew product before watering plants to incorporate the target functionality of MAMMOTH P into your teas!
Does the application rate vary by container size?
No! Simply follow the recommended ml / gal application rates. For example, if your 7 gal soil pot requires 2.5 gal for a drench, you should apply the MAMMOTH P recommended application rate (0.6 ml, etc) x 2.5.
Can MAMMOTH® P be mixed with other fertilizer or microbial drench solutions? Is it better to apply MAMMOTH® P with RO water or with ACT?
MAMMOTH P is designed to be mixed with other fertilizers and will work well with other microbial drench solutions. There is no need to apply MAMMOTH P using RO water, etc.
Since hydroponic nutrients don't "lock up" how does MAMMOTH® P work in Deep Water Culture?
There are several key value-added properties that MAMMOTH P specifically provides for hydroponic cannabis growers. One, most microorganisms cannot survive in a high salt aqueous environment. The microbial community in MAMMOTH P was selected in our functional phenotyping platform to 1) facilitate more P and micronutrient cycling for plant uptake and 2) to persist and remain highly functional in aqueous, high salt (ion/nutrient) environments. Therefore, using MAMMOTH P in recirculating hydroponic systems is an excellent way to include / reintroduce organic natural microbial processes into the root zones of cannabis plants – thus bringing natural processes that have evolved in nature since the beginning of time back to plants growing in otherwise relatively sterile, high salt hydroponic environments. Furthermore, in hydroponic systems, nutrients become unavailable to plants in two forms. One, nutrient solutions in hydroponic environments naturally precipitate (at the microscopic level due to natural chemical collision and binding) into forms that are unavailable for plants to absorb and assimilate into their biomass. Secondly, nutrients in any solution get readily sorped (i.e. bound) to all physical structures (reservoirs, root baskets, coco, etc.); which consequently results in nutrient immobilization – making them unavailable for plant uptake. These two properties of chemical (nutrient) solutions are very common in all natural biogeochemical cycling processes. There are virtually unlimited peer-reviewed scientific publications to support these natural chemical processes. Likewise, the microbes in MAMMOTH P are able to counter both these nutrient immobilizing properties in hydroponic environments by facilitating solubilization and desorption processes by using natural micro – ion exchange abilities (that all microbes facilitate in natural systems) to maximize nutrient mobilization and transformation into plant available forms for uptake.
Overall, our beneficial bacteria act like micro bioreactors, continually producing enzymes and solubilization processes that maximally release nutrients for plants. The microbial consortia in MAMMOTH P is proprietary and unique because it is proven to work very well on cannabis across all nutrient lines and very can be applied directly to soil, coco or recirculating hydroponic systems. MAMMOTH P naturally accelerates the nutrient supply to plants to increase plant health, bud size and quality and yield. Increased levels of P keep internodes shorter and focus energy on bud production. Field trials with many cannabis growers across the Front Range have demonstrated that our product increases plant yield by an average of 16%.
Does MAMMOTH® P promote root health and growth?
MAMMOTH P is an excellent additive to promote healthy root growth to counter root rot throughout the growth cycles. We have collected data from our effectiveness testing which demonstrates more root development during clone stage with MAMMOTH P applications. In fact, one of our social media campaigns – “Show Us Your Roots” – specifically highlighted the additional root health benefits that growers are experiencing using MAMMOTH P.
Our directed microbial phenotyping platform coupled with cutting-edge, high-throughput, molecular techniques is highly effective. MAMMOTH P is differentiated from other microbial biostimulants because it is a microbial consortia that was specifically developed using our functional trait selection platform and has been rigorously tested (by university scientists at Colorado State University) to mobilize P and other micronutrients for plant uptake, which is very important for root development during clone and veg growth stages as well as for bloom stage bud development. Many competitor products use a non-directed approach by simply mixing lab strain microbes, which results in a microbial formula of relatively unknown functionality and persistence.
Does MAMMOTH® P extend the time to swap reservoirs, or will it eliminate the need to swap completely?
We intentionally don’t ask anyone to drastically change their management practices, but simply recommend using MAMMOTH P in addition to current practices. MAMMOTH P cycles nutrients very effectively, which minimizes nutrient sorption/precipitation reactions from occurring. Many growers using MAMMOTH P have regularly reported using their reservoirs for up to 10 days before changing the tank. However, we have not yet conducted any controlled experiments to specifically test how long a reservoir can potentially be used (with the addition of MAMMOTH P) before the need to change reservoirs. From a biological perspective, we could hypothesize that the addition of MAMMOTH P could significantly extend the time you need to change reservoirs to > 10 days.
Can you run MAMMOTH® P through a drip system?
Yes, the product runs clean in drip systems down to 1/8″ lines.
Should I lower my P-K booster dosing while using MAMMOTH® P? Or get rid of them entirely?
For your first trial of MAMMOTH P, we recommend to simply use as an additive into your existing feeding regime without changing anything else. After some experience with using MAMMOTH P, you may decide to lower your P-K booster dosing. We’ve seen great results from growers who keep their P-K boosters, while others have reduced their P-K booster levels and still experienced excellent yield increases!
When should I stop applying MAMMOTH® P?
We recommend following the recommended application rates listed on the bottle. In brief, MAMMOTH P can be used across all cannabis growth stages. MAMMOTH P is especially effective when used during bloom and flush stages.
Would it be safe to use your product as part of a flush regiment to help break down nutrient salts in soil?
Absolutely, we highly encourage using MAMMOTH P through flush cycle.
How compatible with other mycorrhizae / trichoderma inoculants?
The beneficial bacteria in MAMMOTH P are very robust and will compliment mycorrhizae and trichoderma products. Many growers have reported using MAMMOTH P with other inoculants (mycorrhizae and trichoderma specifically) as well as other commercial microbial blends and teas, and are seeing great results.
Do I need to feed these microbes?
The microbes in MAMMOTH P are free living soil bacteria. All (99%) soil microbes (bacteria and fungi) are heterotrophs and consume carbohydrates (i.e. carbon). The microbes in MAMMOTH P will definitely take advantage of plant exudates and root sloughing in the traditional way as they would in nature. They will feed on simple sugars – but the MAMMOTH P formulation and plant rhizosphere will provide all the carbon needed to sustain microbial growth – so there is no need to add sugars when using MAMMOTH P.
Is MAMMOTH® P usable in DWC systems?
Yes, MAMMOTH P works really well in DWC systems at the hydro application rate!
Does MAMMOTH® P run better in organic or synthetic grows?
MAMMOTH P works very well in organic and synthetic grows. We have had thousands of growers using organic nutrients; and thousands of others using synthetic nutrients – all reporting very positive results!
Is MAMMOTH® P a fertilizer (phosphorus)?
MAMMOTH P does not have fertilizer (phosphorus) in it. It is the specific microbes that cycle phosphates more quickly in soil or media. MAMMOTH P will increase the availability of nutrients present, it’s recommended to lightly fertilize the plant and increase fertilization slowly as the plant grows.
Does MAMMOTH® P have to be used as a soil drench or flush to be effective?
We have heard from several grower using the no till method that are reporting excellent results with MAMMOTH P. We recommend starting at a half strength dosage so .3mL/gal. If the plants respond well you may go up to the full strength .6mL/gal all the way through from clone to flush.
How should I use MAMMOTH® P with recycled soil?
We recommend using Mammoth at half dosage and to try it on one or two plants first to make sure there are no burning issues. Do the trial for at least a week or two until you’re comfortable with the results and then increase to regular soil application rate.
Why does MAMMOTH® P have a strong odor?
As PhD soil microbiologists, we have yet to grow active microbes that smelled good! The bacteria in MAMMOTH P do have a strong smell, as they are very active and highly functional for promoting cannabis plant growth.
Is MAMMOTH® P affected by extremely cold temperatures?
The seed stock that we use to produce MAMMOTH P is frozen, therefore the microbes are designed bounce back from a frozen state. However, we don’t recommend freezing MAMMOTH P after it has been bottled.
How should I store MAMMOTH® P?
We recommend storing MAMMOTH P at room temperature – ideally out of direct sunlight and away from hot or cold extremes.
What does the number stamped on the back of my bottle of MAMMOTH® P indicate?
The number stamped on the bottom right hand corner of the back side of the bottle is the manufacture date of that particular bottle of MAMMOTH P. From left to right the numbers indicate the day, month, and year in which the bottle was manufactured, followed by the lot number of the bottle. This number is NOT the expiration date of the product (see question on shelf life for more info).

Mammoth P is OMRI Certified Organic and does not contain toxic ingredients. Safe handling practices are still recommended, including avoiding contact with eyes, mouth, and broken skin. Does MAMMOTH® P have enzymes in it?
The bacteria in MAMMOTH P produce enzymes naturally. That is also one of the reasons why plants and microbes have evolved together so successfully – because microbes cycle nutrients through microbially produced enzyme activities – which help plants take up soil nutrients. The beneficial bacteria in MAMMOTH P are like little enzyme factories – continually making enzymes in the growth media and root zone to help deliver nutrients to plants.
