After 25 years and eight moves across the country, James is happy to be back in Fort Collins, CO where he has taken on the role of Director of Microbial Discovery for Growcentia! With undergraduate degrees in microbiology and biochemistry from the University of Oklahoma, and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Georgia, James has long been fascinated with solving real-world problems by drawing on our planet’s vast microbial diversity. Through various roles and industries, he has spent the last decade applying state-of-the-art microbiology and bioinformatic approaches to enable new discoveries and applications of microbes. When he’s not working with Growcentia’s team of scientists to continuously improve our microbial discovery platform, you can find James enjoying nature in the mountains with his family, reading voraciously, or working on projects varying from restoring classic motorcycles to microelectronics. Forever a curious scientist and “tinkerer,” James says his favorite thing about working with Growcentia is the opportunity to work together with a great group of people on exciting and important challenges!
